Disney Withdraws Attempt to Trademark Holiday

*What I learned:  1) That Disney actually tried to trademark a holiday.  2) That it was possible to even try this.  3) Disney wanted to trademark the holiday inorder to sell merchandise.  **My opinions:  1) Its ridiculous to try to trademark a holiday.  2) Disney has become power hungry over the years and that often leads to disastrous results.  ***Questions:  1) What makes Disney think they have the right to trademark the name of a holiday?  2) How is this even possible, to try to trademark a holiday name?
